No automatic ticket for Melaye, others - PDP
Kogi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says there will Going further, PDP said the decision was taken in the best interest of the party Aspirants planning to contest the senatorial position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi west senatorial district have been told on Saturday, August 25, that there will not be automatic ticket for any candidate. This was the outcome of a stakeholder's meeting held at the residence of General David Jemibewon (rtd), a former governor of old Oyo state and a member of the board of Trustee of the party. According to the party, this is geared towards guiding against impunity and ensure that every contestant is given a sense of belonging. READ ALSO: APC, ADC release September dates for presidential, governorship primaries Tribune reports that aspirant vying for the seat include the incumbent, who recently defected to the party, Dino Melaye, the member representing Yagba federal constituency in the house of representatives, Sunday Karimi and his colleague from Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency, Tajudeen Yusuf. Others are a former acting governor of the state, Clarence Olafemi, Tolorunju Faniyi.
Going further, the party called on new members to be ready to participate in a free and fair contest with the older members of the party, assuring them of a level playing field during the primaries.
