ALH. T. Y. OLAGUNJI CANVASSES SUPPORT FOR APC IN THE COMING RE RUN ELECTION IN OSUN.
Alhaj T.Y. Olagunju call on people of Osun state to be steadfast prayerful and stand solidly behind the progressive party APC. Olagunju stated this in Osogbo after the election was declared inconclusive.
He there enjoined the people of Olode in Ife south and other wards where the rerun wll take place to vote massively for APC come thursday.
He assured the people of the state that APC will in sha Allah claim victory in the election.
HON. LASUN YUSSUF AND OMISORE SET TO WIN RE RUN ELECTON FOR APC.
HOUSE of Representatives Deputy Speaker Yussuff Lasun yesterday joined the battle to ensure victory for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Gboyega Oyetola in tomorrow’s supplementary governorship election in Osun State.
The APC lost in Orolu Local Government Area, which is believed to be Lasun’s stronghold. He is known to be aggrieved with APC leaders.
The supplementary election will hold in three units in the local government due to cancellation over hijacking of materials by thugs.
There are 987 registered voters in the three units.
Also joining forces with the APC is Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Senator Iyiola Omisore.
The election will determine the winner between Oyetola and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ademola Adeleke.
Saturday’s election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which ordered the supplementary election in seven polling units in four local governments – Osogbo, Orolu, Ife North and Ife South.
There are 3, 498 registered voters in the polling units where the elections were cancelled due to various reasons, including hijacking of election materials, abscondment of presiding officer, disruption of election by hoodlums who were shooting sporadically, manual accreditation and over voting.
The supplementary election is a straight fight between Oyetola and Adeleke.
Adeleke has a marginal 353 votes advantage in the election in which Omisore finished third.
Omisore hosted an APC delegation of Ekiti State Governor-elect Dr Kayode Fayemi and Dr Olu Agunloye at his home in Ile-Ife.
On Monday, he received Senate President Bokola Saraki, who came to lobby him to support the PDP.
Omisore, who left the PDP for the SDP because the PDP ticket was skewed in favour of Adeleke, declined to give Saraki his commitment.
But after his meeting with the APC team, Omisore twitted under a photograph of himself with Fayemi and Agunloye: “With @OfficialAPCNg Ekiti state governor elect @kfayemi during his visit today. #goodgovernanceinosunstate #OsunDecides2018.”
In another tweet, Saraki Presidential Campaign Council spokesman Doyin Okupe said: “Omisore I’m told caved in to pressure from APC…”
It was learnt that Omisore, whose dad is the traditional ruler of Olode in Ife South where the election will hold in unit 07, 012 Adereti village with 812 registered voters, joined the APC for a campaign yesterday.
Also yesterday, the police confirmed the arrest of three people for allegedly buying Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and breach of the public peace.
The suspects, Alhaji Fatai Diekola, 61, Sikiru Lawal, 54 and Adekilekun Segun, 54, were arrested on Monday at Adewale Street, Alekuwodo area, Osogbo.
Spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command Folasade Odoro, a Superintendent (SP), said the suspects were arrested by the teams drafted to the state for election duties.
Odoro said: “The three suspects were arrested at Adewale Street, Alekuwodo area, Osogbo at one of the polling units where a re-run election is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 27.
“They were said to be soliciting to buy additional PVCs from one Olawale Kazeem of 4B, Adewale Street, Alekuwodo area, Osogbo and Azeez Sulaiman of 3A, Akinlade Street, Alekuwodo. It was gathered that when the duo declined to sell their PVCs, they were allegedly attacked by the supporters of the suspects.
“However, timely intervention of the police operatives led to the arrest of the three suspects after they were attacked and wounded by the mob. “However, the wounded were taken to the Police Hospital for medical treatment and currently assisting the police in investigation into the crime and the recovery of the PVCs alleged to have been bought from other people in Osun State. The outcome of the investigation will definitely be made public.
“In the meantime, the Nigeria Police Force is assuring the good people of Osun State and other critical stakeholders of its renewed commitment and resolve to ensure adequate security for a free and fair re-run election as announced by INEC in Osun State.
“Members of the public are however advised to desist from any action that may elicit violence as any person arrested will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
The brickbats continued yesterday between the APC and the PDP over the Osun State governorship election.
The governor-elect will emerge tomorrow after the supplementary election in seven units in four local governments.
The PDP plans to file a suit today on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s declaration of Saturday’s election as inconclusive.
But the APC Campaign Council urged voters in the areas where the supplementary election will hold to ignore the “ranting’’ of the PDP and turn out en masse to vote for the ruling party.”
The Chairman of the Council’s Media Committee, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the PDP’s threat to challenge in court INEC’s declaration of Saturday’s election as inconclusive was “ nothing but sheer bravado’’.
Mohammed said the threat was because the opposition party was afraid of losing the rerun.
The chairman, who said the PDP might also have contrived the court threat as a way of distracting the APC and its members ahead of the rerun, called the strategy “dead on arrival”.
”The PDP knows that the so-called court challenge which it has threatened to mount will not fly, especially because the highest court in the land has already pronounced on the issue of whether or not INEC has the powers to declare an election inconclusive.
”The PDP is not unaware of the pronouncement of the Supreme Court in the case of James Abiodun Faleke Vs INEC and others.
“The apex court held that INEC has the duty of conducting elections and that, besides the constitutional provisions, it is guided by the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and the Election Guidelines and Manual issued for its officials in accordance with the Act,” he said.
Mohammed said that since the PDP had boasted that its candidate would win if the Osun Governorship Election was conducted over and over again, the party “ should stop being jittery and put its money where its mouth is by willingly participating in the rerun.’’
He, however, said that if the PDP chose to boycott tomorrow’s rerun out of fear, the party’s right to do so would be respected.
”The PDP, after its failed mission to win Saturday’s election at all cost, is shopping for an illegal shortcut to victory by threatening a court action over an issue that has been settled.
“It’s a sheer waste of time. Let the PDP drop its pretension and get ready to be defeated in Thursday’s rerun.
“Alternatively, it can withdraw to save face,” the chairman said.
The APC also accused the PDP of cloning Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) with the intention of using them to rig the rerun election.
The statement said: “The APC has received fresh reports from our field agents on the ongoing cloning of PVCs by PDP agents. We view this development as bizarre and a sign of the desperation of the PDP to takeover Osun State by all illegal means.
“While we call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to urgently investigate the development and promptly arrest persons behind the cloning, we strongly advise INEC to ensure that its voters’ register is not tampered with.
“Also, we call on INEC and security agencies to speak publicly on measures being taken to stop the ongoing vote buying by PDP agents, which has become widespread in the state.
The APC called for calm in the face of the already tense situation caused by the alleged PDP’s rigging plot.
“The Osun electorate must remain alert and resist any plot to subvert the people’s will and manipulate the rerun election.
“Commendably, the police already have in its custody a PDP stalwart who led other PDP leaders to buy up voters’ cards ahead of Thursday’s governorship rerun. There, however, remains much to be done to ensure the credibility of the forthcoming rerun election.”
Spokesman of the party in Osun State Kunle Oyatomi, said tomorrow’s supplementary poll “cannot be bought”.
In a statement, he said: “Sen Ademola Adeleke can’t win on the popular votes. First, he is the least educated and qualified candidate Osun has ever raised in its history of political contest.
“The fraud that brought him to this lever (manipulation of card readers and purchase of the PVC of ill-informed voters) that we are now discussing him as a potential governor, marks us as essentially an illiterate and backward democracy.
“Such a person should not have qualified to be taken as ‘O’YES Cadet.
‘The PDP and Adeleke family would be disappointed on Thursday.
‘That vote can’t be bought, and would not be bought.
‘The PDP insists on going to court and contesting the rerun election at the same time. That is evidence of desperation. If they have confidence they could win, they have no business to be in court at this stage.
‘The people of Osun will decide on Thursday (tomorrow) in closely monitored and protected votes where the likes of moneybags and fraudsters will be neutralised’
The PDP, however, demanded the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
The opposition party also called for the immediate resignation of INEC Director of Operations Mrs. Amina Zakari who is also in charge of commission’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) Department.
At a media briefing in Abuja yesterday, the PDP, through its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan called out the INEC chair over his “controlling role in the fraudulent manipulations” in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State.
The opposition party accused Mrs. Zakari of altering election figures in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
INEC had declared the election inconclusive, following the cancellation of the election in some local government areas. The commission has slated a supplementary election in the affected areas for tomorrow.
Rejecting the inconclusive verdict on the election, the PDP insisted that the polls were concluded, adding that the party and indeed well-meaning Nigerians no longer have confidence in the INEC chairman.
The party said, “With INEC’s fraudulent conduct in the Osun governorship election, and approval that a concluded election be declared inconclusive, it is completely inexcusable that Prof. Yakubu presides over an atrocious and compromised electoral umpire that manipulates electoral processes, doctors figures, allocates fictitious votes and subverts the will of the people in an election.
“The PDP has additional documentary evidence of how this compromised INEC, through its Operations and ICT Department, doctored results from polling centres, directly shortchanged the PDP with no fewer than 4,387 votes by slashing votes cast for the PDP at the polling centres while allocating fictitious figures to the APC.
“The PDP has facts on how INEC slashed over 1000 votes freely cast by the people for our candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in Ayedaade Local Government Area, just to reduce our votes from our legitimate 10,836 votes cast at the polling centres to 9,836 votes so as to give APC the lead with a 1000 vote margin in the local government.
“Also, the PDP has evidence of how INEC, while collating results, directly allocated over 1,367 fictitious votes to the APC in Olorunda Local Government Area, to fraudulently shore up the APC votes to duplicitous 16,254 votes. This is in addition to evidence of how INEC awarded over 2,000 fictitious votes in favour of the APC in Osogbo to push APC’s vote to 23,379 against the actual 21,479 votes scored by the defeated party.
“Such writing of results by INEC in collusion with the APC occurred in many other areas leading to INEC’s ill-fated directives to its junior officials, including the one apprehended in Ayedaade, to destroy results already displayed at polling and collation centers.
“It was after INEC and the APC realised that despite their manipulation of figures, our candidate still scored the highest number of votes, making him the clear winner of the election, that they decided to fraudulently apply unconstitutional grounds to declare the election inconclusive.
“From the facts available to us, INEC robbed our party of over 4,387 votes. Our actual winning margin stands at 4,740 votes against the 353 votes declared by INEC.
“Furthermore, while the PDP, in rejecting INEC’s declaration, is resolute in the decision to seek legal redress and take our mandate, freely given to our candidate by the people of Osun State, our party has also discovered schemes perfected by INEC to rig its planned supplementary election in favour of the APC.”
“The PDP is already aware that INEC has increased the original number of voters in the affected polling centers by over 850 so as to expand its latitude to manipulate results with uncollected Permanent Voter Card (PVCs), a development, which further shows INEC’s determination to rig the election for APC.
“The PDP holds that the shenanigan that has characterised the Osun governorship election is a testing measure by the APC in collusion with INEC to rig the 2019 general elections, particularly the Presidential election, which they plan to plunge into similar controversy immediately it becomes obvious that APC is losing”.
The PDP expressed fears that the alleged complicit role of the electoral body could push the nation into an irretrievable state of anarchy and spell doom for the country’s democracy.
“While Prof. Mahmood Yakubu can no longer be trusted to conduct the 2019 general elections, it is public knowledge that Mrs. Amina Zakari, the INEC Director in charge of Operations and ICT is a direct blood relation of Mr. President and as such, we believe that she cannot be an impartial arbiter in an election involving her uncle.”
“The PDP therefore calls on all patriotic Nigerians to join in the demand for the resignation of Prof. Yakubu and Mrs. Zakari so as to avert this dangerous path, where INEC is leading our nation.
“As a law abiding and people-oriented political party, all that the PDP is demanding for is the return of our candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the duly returned candidate at the September 22, 2018 Osun Governorship Election.
“We call on INEC to guarantee free, fair and credible election at all levels of engagement, as we will not allow unpatriotic individuals to destroy our nation with their inordinate and selfish aspirations”.

THE KWARA OF MY DREAM. By Alh. T. Y. Olagunju.
Alhaji Tayo Y. Olagunju that people know was never a politician but recent happenings in kwara has eventually dragged him into politics.
Today, people of Kwara state are clamoring for political revolution which is total deliverance from the oppressors, bringing kwarans out of the political bondage of Saraki empire. All villages, tows and city in kwara were ready to sacrifice whatever for the success of the struggle to liberate kwara. In this regard the people of Oke-Ogun constituency has prevailed on Alh. Omotayo Olagunju to come and represent them in the state house of assembly where their interest will adequately be protected.
Alh. T. Y. Olagunju was never a politician but whenn the pressure was too much, he accepted to represent and serve his people at the state house of assembly.
When he was asked what his opinion was on kwara political situations, this was what he has to say: 'The component of our roadmap is REVOLUTIONNIZATION. By this my desire for a wholesome departure from the unfruitful, debilitating and incapacitating tradition must be addressed and changed. We are not saying that past administrations have not done anything but we are just sharing and voicing our peoples impatience for change and overt concern for methods and approaches which keep on leaving much to be desired by the masses.
Like earlier said, why continue with a tradition that is inefficient, breeds mediocrity, keeps a people in bondage and backward and in effect is achaic.
It is very neccessary to now come up with not just mere political and politicking structures, but dependable and productive developmental aspirations. We are not just concerned about the now, but our concern is the collective chance and future of every bona fide individual who depends on our beloved state for livelihood, sustainance, personhood and identity.
It is more than a mere opinion that great nations and societies of the world are formed, shaped, built and progressively sustained on strong and powerful ideological principles and not mere political wish, dream or aspirations. The right time to turn the tide and set the stage for drastic remake is now. We cant and we shouldnt bow to pressures whether internal or external to jettison a glorious chance to a new down.'
Olagunju bowed to pressure, accepted to serve, register as an APC member and picks nomination form.

OGBENI AREGBESOLA COUNTS HIS STEWARDSHIP IN OSUN, SAYS HIS GOVERNMENT HAS LAID SOLID FOUNDATION
The Governor of Osun State. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has recounted his stewardship in the state in past eight years with a prediction for a brighter future.
In a press released by Media Adviser to the governor, Sola Fasure, Aregbesola hinged the future rosy future prediction on the fact that his administration has laid a solid infrastructural foundation upon which the future of this state could be erected.
Aregbesola gave this assurance in his address to the people of the state on the occasion of the anniversary of the state creation.
Osun was created in 1991 from the parent Oyo State.
Aregbesola said his administration has laid the foundation for prosperity and enduring development in eight years.
According to him, his government has also reawakened in the people of the state the Omoluabi consciousness, which he described as an infrastructure of the mind that prepares people for greatness through hard work and goodly disposition to fellow humans.
Aregbesola said eight years under his watch, the economy of Osun received a huge boost.
However, the governor, sounding optimistic, noted that the best is yet to come for the state, adding that the path before Osun and its people is very bright like the northern star.
The Governor also reiterated the importance of education, one of the cardinal programmes of his administration, as central to growth, development and the path to greatness.
“The path to greatness remains a good and qualitative education. We must all strive to provide it for our children and those in need of it around us.
We must remain creative and use our God-given talent to solve problems around us. We must all work hard and love and have peaceful disposition towards our neighbours.
OGBENI AREGBESOLA'S LANDMARK ACHIEVEMENTS.
“In our own way, we have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Osun State. And in spite of the daunting financial challenges we faced in the second term of our administration, we are leaving Osun far better than we met it.
“Osun has recorded political, economic and physical development in the last eight years, more than at any point in its history.
From the 30 local government areas and one area office, Osun now boasts of additional 31 Local Council Development Areas, three Area Councils and two Administrative Offices.
“Elections were conducted into them under the parliamentary system of government and the councils have since been inaugurated and are providing democratic governance to our people at the local level.
“Under our watch, the economy of Osun has received a big boost. We engaged over 40,000 youths in social work, empowered more than 150,000 artisans and traders with more than N20 billion soft and interest free loans.
“We have transformed education with reforms in all areas which include the building of brand new 21 Elementary Schools with 531 classrooms; 30 Middle Schools with 770 classrooms; and 11 High Schools with 792 classrooms, in addition to refurbishing old ones.
The fortunes of secondary school leavers who wrote external examinations have improved tremendously under our watch.
From the 15 per cent matriculable pass archived in WAEC by the administration before us, the figure has shot to 54 per cent under our administration,” he said.
Aregbesola stated that his government provided security for our people, took care of the aged in a way that has never been done before.
He noted that with constructions of intra and inter-states roads as well as rural roads within the state, Osun has been opened up and every nooks and crannies are now accessible with little efforts.
He also disclosed that his administration’s emphasis on sanitation and healthy environment has left the state clean and neat than it was eight years ago.
He called on the people of the state to vote the candidate of All Progressive Congress in the governorship election on 22nd September so as to guarantee continuity of the progress and achievement recorded in the past eight years.
The Governor continued: “More importantly, we have transformed the physical environment of Osun. We did this through the construction of more than 2,000 kilometres of roads, including 10 kilometres in each local government area.
We have taken care of the environment and curbed flooding. Osun, particularly the capital city, Osogbo, is neater and more beautiful than we met it.
“On September 22, less than a month from now, there will be Governorship election, preparatory to our disengagement. It is a historic point in the annals of Osun.
“I can only implore you to build on the foundation we have laid by ushering in a progressive government that have served you these past eight years by way of continuity.
“We should display the Omoluabi ethos during the election, conduct ourselves peacefully, avoid violence and manipulation of the electoral process and think of what is best for the state, all our people, our children and the future of our state.
“I must thank and express my deepest appreciation to all those who have taken this state to where it is, beginning from all former administrators in the state – military and civilians – and the pioneer civil servants.”

According to Longe Lanre, tweet @longe_lanre: “Malam Ibrahim Shekarau finally defects to @OfficialAPCNg this gives APC total control in all strata of elections in Kano. @MBuhari victory becomes highly probable as we inch towards 2019 general elections. It is a case of who laughs last…”

Osun 2018: PDP yet to settle Adeleke, Ogunbiyi's rift over party ticket.
Just 17 days to the gubernatorial election in Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP and Akin Ogunbiyi are yet to settle their rift - Ogunbiyi was the second runner-up in the party's primary election - Adeleke beat Ogunbiyi to the governorship ticket with seven votes The rift between the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, and his runner-up in the party's primary election, Akin Ogunbiyi, is yet to be settled by the party, despite the fact that it is just seventeen days to the state governorship election. Recall that Senator Adeleke won the primary election with seven votes but the result was contested by Ogunbiyi who believed that the election was manipulated to favour Adeleke. This Day reports that a committee was set up by the leadership of the party and headed by Senator David Mark for the purpose of settling the rift between the duo. Newswailler gathers that Adeleke was told to concede some positions to the Ogunbiyi group, including the deputy governorship seat as well as the Osun West senatorial ticket. Report has it that Senator Adeleke is yet to honour the agreement. The senator has been told by Ogunbiyi to be honourable and upright so as not to jeopardise the chances of the party in the gubernatorial election.nformant paraded by police for giving false information about Edwin Clark Ogunbiyi stated in a statement issued by his press secretary, Ismail Afolabi, that it is known to the people of Osun that the senator did not win the governorship primary. The statement read: “In the interest of the PDP, one would not have responded to the indecorous utterances from Senator Ademola’s campaign office and hope that the governorship candidate and his team will learn to be honourable over time, if they had simply stopped at their extreme enmity and not resorted to telling serial lies against Dr. Ogunbiyi. “It is not unknown to the great people of Osun and of course, the PDP faithful that Dr Ogunbiyi actually won the July 21st primary election of the party but Senator Ademola allegedly dubiously clinched the gubernatorial ticket through manipulation. And since then, the senator and some of his followers have been calling for the head of Ogunbiyi. “Already, it is almost seven weeks after the party primaries and Ademola’s camp has infamously remained hell bent at bringing Ogunbiyi to his knees for no just course after all Ogunbiyi is not their opponent at coming election. “This said, the dishonourable statement credited to the campaign office of Senator Ademola doesn’t come as a surprise, as they have resorted to all forms of lies and blackmail to cover up the dismal reactions on their poorly coordinated outings. “Also after the primaries, the national leadership of the party, led by Prince Uche Secondous, the respected PDP national chairman and his executives had brokered peace between Ademola and Ogunbiyi wherein they ceded the deputy governorship position to Ogunbiyi’s camp, among other things. But today, everyone knows that it is the Adelekes, not Ogunbiyi that floated the pact. “Furthermore, contrary to the skewed claim by Senator Adeleke’s campaign office, Dr Ogunbiyi is accessible to all and on collision course with none. As a core party man and peace loving person, shortly after the controversial primaries, he publicly declared that he has nothing against the Adelekes and expressed willingness to work for the party.” Meanwhile, Newswailler previously reported that the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was reportedly unhappy over its inability to settle the rift between the camp of Senator Ademola Adeleke and some aggrieved governorship aspirants in Osun state, led by Dr Akin Ogunbiyi. Senator Adeleke, representing the Osun West senatorial district in the Senate, is the governorship candidate of the PDP in the September 22 election in the state.

In an effort to help locals and residents collect their PVCs, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Monday, September 3, ordered the closure of major markets in Ile Ife - The monarch said that obtaining of PVCs is part of citizens' civic responsibilities - Reacting to the development, the Babaloja of New Market in Ile-Ife, Chief Abayomi Omoworare, commended the Ooni for the decision The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Monday, September 3, ordered that all major markets in Ife be closed to encourage traders and other residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The traditional ruler said in Ile-Ife that it was important that traders, artisans as well as other residents set aside time to collect their PVCs. According to the monarch, citizens need to obtain the PVC as part of their civic responsibilities. He urged the residents to collect the PVCs and participate actively in the forthcoming governorship election by freely voting for candidates of their choice. The Babaloja of New Market in Ile-Ife, Chief Abayomi Omoworare, commended the Ooni for the directive. Omoworare said Oba Ogunwusi had demonstrated exemplary leadership in promoting the campaign on the collection of PVCs. “Since nobody can vote without Permanent Voter Cards, it is our duty as good citizens to cast our vote in all elections for candidates of our choice. “My people should, therefore, make use of Monday as declared by the first class monarch to go and collect their PVCs because of the forthcoming gubernatorial election coming up in Osun on Sept. 22,’’ he said. Meanwhile, newswailler reported that the office of the youth organising secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, on Saturday, September 2, pleaded with Nigerians and residents of the state against acts that could heat up the polity. YOU HAVE TAKEN KWARANS FOR GRANTED- NBS boss, Modibbo Ishaq Kawu tells Saraki
Modibbo Ishaq Kawu, the director-general of National Broadcasting Commission has lambasted Senate President, Bukola Saraki for allegedly taking the people Kwara State for granted, Kawu, who also hailed from Kwara State poured vituperation on Saraki for the unfortunate killings and enslaving the people of the state
“It is not the “natural” human condition to continuously vote for a kleptocratic hegemony such as Saraki has imposed on our dear Kwara State, Bukola Saraki’s hegemony has been responsible for a systematic underdevelopment of Kwara; the entrenchment of a pattern of cult killings and blood letting that’s unique.
“And over a three year period, 2010, 2011, and 2013, tens of people were killed in stampede in front of the offices and residence of the Saraki. Even the Offa “robbery” where 33 people died was far more like their pattern of ritual killings than robbery!
“How much money do they have in Offa banks that 33 people had to be killed? These are questions people ask in Kwara. Hopefully the incredibly arrogant Bukola Saraki, whose family has no Asali whatsoever, has finally arrived at a denouement! Nothing lasts forever; not a kleptocratic hegemony; not an oppressive domination of a state by a family, which really isn’t even from our state!” Mr Kawu said in a WhatsApp group dominated by Northern Editors and intellectuals.
He also blamed Saraki’s alleged wrongdoings on his ancestry which he said was questionable.
“That’s why he doesn’t share the values of our community; looks down at our people and carries himself with so much contempt! Even his names tell anyone who knows Ilorin that this is an “alien” individual. His full names are OLUBUKOLA OLABOWALE ADEBISI These are not names an Ilorin person would normally be called. And he didn’t have a Muslim name until he wanted to run for governor in 2002-2003! They first named him Muktar after his grandfather and that was then dropped for Abubakar, the name his father was also “borrowed” in Ilorin. These are the facts!” Kawu said
All attempts to make Saraki’s spokesperson, Yusuf Olaniyonu react failed as he declined comments on Kawu’s claims, including the part about using Offa Robbery death for ritual, saying he was not appointed to comment on everything about his principal
But there are those who believe that Kawu is peeved as a result of Saraki’s defection (with some lawmakers from the ruling All Progressive Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
